Stamping

Stamping or pressing is a production process using dies and tools to transform sheet metal into the desired net shape. With the assistance of stamping and pressing equipment of different technologies, capacities from 110 to 1000 tons and from single stage stamping to multi-stage processes, aided by more than 50 handling robots, LeGroup has produced various products for a range of applications.

These products are then assembled and used in cars, motorcycles, and home appliances.

With progressive or integrated dies, stamping products manufactured in LeGroup are highly accurate and stable.

Stamping and pressing activities in LeGroup are aided by an auto-feeding system for material. This system can handle material with a width of up to 650mm and as thick as 8mm.

Deep drawing at LeGroup is carried out with hydraulic presses, which produce stainless steel and cold rolled steel products with a depth of up to 380mm, a diameter of up to 500mm and in a variety of shapes. With bottom cushioning tooling designed and fabricated in-house, deep drawn products by LeGroup have aesthetically sharp and precise finishes, suitable for use in a range of applications.

  • Type of stamping: Draw, Form, Press, Deep draw, Blank, Pierce, Punch.
  • Thickness: up to 8mm for carbon steel and 6mm for stainless steel, 2.0mm for titanium.
  • Size of parts
Length up to 1500 mm Width up to 1000 mm Height up to 300 mm

4 Aluminum 0.7 to 2.0 mm
5 Titanium 0.8 to 2.0 mm

Turret punching

With the assistance of a servo driven CNC turret punching machines from Japan and Germany, LeGroup is manufacturing products with strict requirements for a smooth, burr-free surface after punching, for variable-mixed and variable-lot production. This is to ensure minimized burs around the holes, eliminating foreign noise of the mufflers or parts for other applications during their performance.

Welding

Our welding workshop, aided by more than 100 robots, performs various types of welding techniques, including: MIG, MAG, TIG, SEAM, SPOT welding using Plasma gas (for very refine finishing of welding lines), as well as mixed gas of argon and CO2. A small job using laser welding technology is also performed in house. Moreso, for highly cosmetic required products, we use “welding without slag” system in our welding processes. Within welding workshop, we have an internal R&D team, who, with some assistance of our suppliers from Germany and Japan, studies various issues to handle difficult welding jobs, to enhance the welding fusion quality, and cosmetic finishing.

Surface treatment

Painting

Our paint line performs mostly heat resistance paint, using both robots and manuals (to perform paint jobs for hidden corners of products) for exhaust systems and cat-boxes of high performance motorcyles. We have three trusted suppliers of heat resistance paint: Okisumo from Japan, IVC (now PPG) from America, and BASF (now AkzoNobel) from Europe.

Besides, we also perform preminum quality ED painting and powder painting for different products of various shapes and designs.

Chrome Plating

Our nickel chrome line performs various plating jobs for high end chrome plated products, both for carbon and stainless steel, for both bright and black chrome (two colours for customers to choose from), with Cr3+ standard. Our chrome lines meet the quality standard JIS H8502:1999, with 24hrs CASS test, 240hrs neutral salt spray test, and thermal shock test according to ISO2819-1980. Another chrome line includes under copper layer, and micro crack nickel layer, together with other 4 nickel layers. This is to enhance the chrome quality, giving even better finishing and durable quality for chrome products.

Other surface treatments (for hairline or satin finish)

  • Brushing
  • Blasting

Laser Homologation printing

All homologation printing jobs are done by 3D laser, on various surface treated products.

Value added services

  • Though LeGroup has not yet fully designed its own products, our engineers have been proactively and actively involving in designing processes with our customers. Our customers share with LeGroup their preliminary sketches/ ideas for new products, LeGroup’s engineers then add on their inputs/ ideas for better design for optimum manufacturing processes, to enhance products’ performance and quality, lower the cost, and shorter leadtime.
  • LeGroup also assists customers with sourcing different products of various materials, doing the complete assembly and packaging to send to customers, both for OE assembly and aftermarket purposes.
  • As an effort to go extra mile to assist customers, LeGroup has reached out to source new suppliers of different product natures in the region for customers’ supply chain.
